Up Coming Events Past Events and Thank You
With the beginning of March we enter the period of Lent leading up to Easter. While we don’t make as much of the season as some churches do, the emphasis is important. It is to be a time of SELF EXAMINATION. Self Examination is an important step in Faithfulness to God. As we examine ourselves we become aware of sin in our lives and can confess it and experience God’s Forgiveness. This leads to a healthier relationship between us and our Heavenly Father.
On Saturday, March 25 as a congregation we will experience a time of Spiritual Discernment. Rev. Elmo Familiarian will be leading a retreat for Spiritual Discernment for our Congregation, particularly our elected leaders but also for others who will come. This retreat is for the purpose of enabling us as a congregation to focus on HEARING God’s Voice as we move forward in securing a permanent pastor.
The retreat will be held here at the church. It will begin at 8:30 and finish around 1:30 with lunch provided. If you are an elected church officer (member of the Church Council) keep this date clear. But we also encourage any other member who would like to be part of this experience as we move forward.
We want to make sure we are in tune with God’s Will in choosing a Pastor. This is the first step.
†† In case you’re wondering this is what we have been doing ††
On February 12th, we had a program here at the church, titled Baptists, Jews and the Holocaust: The Hand of Sincere Friendship presented by Dr. Lee B. Spitzer. We had approximately 65 attend some from our church, other churches and people from the community. It was open to all who wished to attend. It was very interesting to find out how the baptists were and how they helped during the Holocaust. There was a question and answer period and some great question were asked. Following we had light refreshments in Fellowship Hall, and Dr. Lee Spitzer was able to give some one on one for discussions.
February 19th was the annual Shepherd’s luncheon we had 59 members attend. It was a special time of fellowship and a time to get to know the Deacon and Deaconess and the members a little better. As always, you can call your shepherds (Deacons and Deanconess) if you have any questions or any needs and/or concerns.
On Sunday February 26th we had a Mission Diner with Joyce and David Reed. The board of missions did a wonderful job at putting it together, and everyone enjoyed a delicious meal. Thank you those of prepared the food.
